This "X boat" one design was built in the early 1920's and is designed by Alfred Westmacott. The class is still going strong and boasts one of the largest wooden racing fleets in the country.

This boat however, stowed its racing pennant long ago and enjoys day sailing on the odd occasion when her owner has time to use her. It was found during a condition survey for insurance that the copper fastenings had completely eroded and required immediate attention. Other defects were apparent but with the light use and the owner's budget, a compromise was found on how far we should go.

We replaced all of the virtually non-existent copper boat nails and roves, made minor repairs to the hull, deck and mast, fitted some new hardware and completely repainted the boat inside and out.

Four years later we replaced the transom after it finally gave up the fight against rot, which we carried out at the owner's premises using our mobile workshop.
