This boat is a Shetland skiff and was probably built in the 1960's.

It came to us with the instructions to "make her new", the boat having lived in a leaky cow shed for years, full of leaves.

Some of the wide larch planks were replaced, new frame heads were scarfed in as they had rotted and a new aft seat and backrest fitted.

All of the hood end and garboard copper nails were replaced with screws and the galvanised metal fittings were rebedded.

The hollow mast and boom required attention to the glue joints and the whole boat was stripped to bare wood and comprehensively repainted and varnished.

This boat was saved from the bonfire and the owner effectively now has a new boat.
